    Hi,

    Faulting process id: 0x2f0
Errors on your system may be caused by invalid registry entries and outdated or corrupt drivers.

Please ensure drivers and bios are latest versions.

Did you upgrade or perform a clean or custom install? If you upgraded then chances are you'll be better off wiping clean and doing a clean install.

If you'd rather not follow the above route or did a clean install anyway try the system file checker. Open an admin cmd prompt by right clicking in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and then choosing admin cmd prompt from the list. Type:

    sfc /scannow

    Press enter and await results.

Are you using win 8 with a local or Microsoft account? If it's just a local account, trade up and obtain a microsoft account here:
    https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=...=1033&id=38936

Another thing to check is viral or malware activity. I use Defender but also back it up with Malwarebytes. Nothing is better at search and destroy:
    Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

I did a upgrade originally but after hearing some horror stories, I wiped my drive and then did a double install because I only have windows 8 pro upgrade.

If you'd rather not follow the above route or did a clean install anyway try the system file checker. Open an admin cmd prompt by right clicking in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and then choosing admin cmd prompt from the list. Type:

    sfc /scannow

did this several times didn't find anything.

    Press enter and await results.

    I have both currently.

I use Vipre and have never had a problem.

Just started up about a week ago. I haven't upgraded any drivers, or made any changed to OS.

I notice in your replies that your using a local and a microsoft account. Does the issue crop up in both accounts? You could also try running a chkdsk and see if anything needs repairing. You'll need to right click your HDD icon, choose properties, Tools and then check now. It will probably say it doesn't need checking but run it anyway.

Yes it does in both accounts. I'll try chkdsk and see what happens.

Oh and if this is a driver problem could it be caused by my having to use 7 drivers instead of 8 drivers? ASUS hasn't updated my motherboards drivers for what seems like forever. And I had to use 7 drivers to get any normal speed on 8. Windows 8 drivers are turtle slow on this motherboard.

    chkdsk update:
no error where found. I ran it on all drivers.

I can only assume it's either one of two things. As weird as it sounds the local account might be the cause and removing it may help. Apart from that you might have some corruption, which is indicated in the error code, trying a refresh may help.
Using win 7 drivers should be ok although when you say the 8 drivers are slow which drivers are you referring to?

When I installed windows 8 it was only running on the drivers provided by MS. Those drivers are really slow on this board.

Re: Whenever I open a metro app my explorer crashes then recovers

    Quick Update:

I started to going threw all my logs and found a interest event. Seems like all my errors are originating from my sounds drivers. I Rolled back to MS's basic sound drivers and my problems stopped. Every tile on the Start screen opens with the first click. No more errors in my event logs.... hmnmmm lol makes you wonder why/how sound would be connected to opening a program from the start screen?

Well Now all I have to do is find a sound driver that doesn't cause problems with my system.

Thanks again for all the help everyone!
