CD, DVD drives not working well in Windows 8!

    Hi

I'm noticing that my CD DVD drives aren't working very well in Windows 8.
Right now I'm trying to install a voice file from AT&T and the drive just keeps running and running.

I installed the same software in Windows 7 a few minutes ago and it worked fine.

I'm about to go back to Windows 7 and copy the CD to my hard drive and run it from there.

This isn't the first I've noticed this, when I was trying to install an Old version of Photoshop it couldn't read the disk but Windows 7 could.

Ah, I see it did finish just now but what should have taken only a minute or so took forever.

Anyone have any idea about this.

    Mike

I had a similar issue with USB Flash drives installing software, it was taking what seemed forever to install. After installing the current JMicron driver for the PC, the issue was corrected.

It could be the same with the CD/DVD driver. I just checked my install, the driver for it is a Microsoft signed driver, from back in 2006. Being that I install most of my software from USB drives, I haven't noticed the issue yet. But I'm going to update the driver anyway.
