    Extending Partition?

    Hi

I want to make the partition that I have Windows 8 on Larger.

I've run into some things that won't install outside the Windows partition and still work so I need more space.

I opened Disk Management and shrank the other partition by 50 Gigs.
But it didn't give me the option to extend the partition that Windows 8 is on to use that area.

So I extended the original partition back to where is was, am I'm back where I started.

Is there a way to do this?

    Mike

I thought I might be able to do this from Windows 7 but when I try it tells me that doing so will convert the partition into a dynamic partition and make it unbootable.

The Win 7 and Win 8 Disk manager are somewhat limited. Use a 3rd party partition manager such as Partition Wizard or EaseUS Partition Magic to accomplish what you wish to do.

I like the EaseUS I've got a paid version from Give away of The Day. They give away a lot of junk but occasionally a gem. I've noticed that when they give the good ones away an new release quickly follows. I try and check daily.

I have both I also got the paid version during that same give away. I had Partition Wizard prior to that and have used it extensively. Quite honestly I have never used the EaseUS product even though I do have it. Could not beat the price.

    Re: Extending Partition?

For years, I used "Partition Magic 6 then 8 and it basically timed out at Win-Vista/7.
Easeus Partition Master, 9.0 Professional is now my Partition manipulator of choice.

Yes, first make room for the C: drive expansion by decreasing the size of a second partition.
then expand the C: partition to take up the available space.

There is one version of Easeus Partition Master that's FREE. I think they call it the "Home" version.
    Google for it!
You won't find a Better program for creating, deleting or resizing partitions.

    Cheers Mate!
