    Forward Slash misbehaving

I've got a unique problem that I've not seen before. I'm using IE10 (Windows 8). The forward slash on some tabs on both Metro and IE Desktop look like this by hitting that particular key alone - it appears as follows \
Now when I hit the Shift key, it appears as follows |
I can do this - c:\ and now it appears to be a c:w but when I post it to the forum, it appears normal. What goes here?

On facebook / or Google Search, it acts proper. In Outlook, it behaves normally. But it misbehaves also in Google Chrome.

I've tried the Ctrl-Shift / I've tried US keyboard / Canadian Keyboard etc - nothing will change this.

Any idea as to how I can fix this one -
