Re: Windows 8 will change the face of computers: My Perspective

    Hi

I'm familiar enough with Windows 8 not to feel comfortable using it alone as an OS.

My problem is that I can't update my video drivers and the drivers in Windows 8 don't support OpenGL which I need to run some of my 3D graphics software.

If I can get that fixed then I'll start using it as my main OS.

I've tried every few days to update my drivers but it won't let me do it.
There were a lot of updates this morning so I'll try again today.

Right now I'm downloading my Creative Audio drivers, we'll see how that goes.

Did you try the driver for Windows 7 for your video card. I used the same one that I'm' using on W7. I wanted NVIDIA control panel to tweak monitor appearance. I had it saved and simply clicked and installed it.

    Hi Joe

I think the problem was with AMD, the drivers for my Radeon 5870 card just wouldn't install.

Only a few minutes ago I went back to there site and found a new driver that was specifically for Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

I installed it and now I have support for openGL and my Catalyst Control Panel.

I opened both of the programs I was having problems with and they are both working now.
