How to get Windows 8 to recognise your DVD Drive

    1) Surf the web for hours and get nowhere, not least when you try the Microsoft Windows 8 forum and they advise you to cut and paste a registry command which doesn't work. At least not for me.

    2) Put your drive's SATA lead in a different socket on the motherboard. You may have to experiment. But it will work!!!

Is it not recognizing after the install? Have you tried going to the DVD manufacturer's site to grab drivers for the DVD drive? Mine were installed during the Win 8 CP installation. Win 8 has one of the best driver bases of any OS.

Do you have a driver disc that came w/ the optical drive? If so, run that.
