Finally some good news!
Hi
Today I pulled the hard drives out of my lightning zapped computer.
I'm happy to say that it was easier then I imagined.
You don't even have to open the case.
You remove a large wireless plugin fan from the front of the computer and the hard drives are right there. The retaining bar folds out to make a handle and they slide right out.
I plugged the drives into the USB converter and connected them to my wife's laptop and they both read fine, no hassles.
I backed up about 100 Gb of stuff that I needed just to be safe.
When the new computer arrives I'll plug them into that and transfer the data directly.
My new monitor arrived today so when the new computer gets here I'm good to go.
I have to say that the Apricorn universal USB connector worked great, I recommend it if any one needs something like this.
Now that I know my data is safe I'm starting to get excited about getting my new computer.
I promised myself I won't start messing with the stereo 3D stuff until I get everything up and running.
It will probably take me a week to do that.
And for the first time I will have only Windows 8 installed.
I've had so many duplicate programs and stuff installed it's been kind of a pain, it will be nice to have that all cleaned up.
